Truly successful people are always detail oriented.  If you have ever searched for a job, you’ll notice that usually within the job description it says that they are looking for a ‘detail-oriented’ person.  People who aren’t detail-oriented tend to remain frustrated in their position, get passed for promotion, and irritate their partners, all without thinking any of the details were really that big of a deal.

People who don’t understand the importance of details find themselves making statements like, ‘I don’t know why my boss wants me to it this way, it’s stupid.’  Or you may watch a movie like the Karate Kid and have no concept of why the young master started out washing cars.  If you have thus far in life gotten away without focusing on the importance of the little things, now it’s time to step up to the big leagues and understand that every typo, misplaced number, unsigned chart, and sloppy report never goes unnoticed.  It may not seem like a big deal, but believe me it is.

Pay Attention to Details

Your nails are chipping paint but you think no one will notice, it’s not true, they will so you should just remove the chipped paint until you can fix them.  You haven’t put any energy into your project, but you think you can wing it, it’s not true, someone will notice.  You send a rough draft to your boss without editing, well it may be a rough-draft to you, but to your boss it’s just sloppy.

Today and every day of the #30DaySuccessChallenge, compose all important emails in a word processing document to look for typos, proofread everything before it goes out, if you are unsure of something ask someone who can help, finish all of your projects completely, and when an authority figure tells you they want something done a certain way that makes no sense to you, do it anyway.  After you’ve completed the project to perfection, ask why they want things done that way. You just might learn something!

See you tomorrow on Success Day #16!!
